Default Bought my first boat today..

She ain't pretty but the price was right. Probably has multi-use for salt & fresh water fishing.

1988, 18' w/ a Johnson 75hp. Trailer included. It floats and runs, so I can use it right away, but it is a project that I'd like to take on and improve it. Turn it back into something nice

Made a mistake.. Actually has an 85hp, V-4. Structurally solid, some minor dings & chips. Its been sitting for 2 years so first stop is for an emgine tune up.

Price was right at $800 which included the trailer. Hope to use it for 2 momths pr so this year and start refurbimg durimg the winter.

For that price if it runs and floats you got a great deal! Cant tell much from the picture but it looks like a nice all around boat. Congrats again :-)

If it hasnt ran in a few years.. Before you start it up.. You need to replace all the fuel lines.. From tank to the carbs.. primer bulb and all... And be sure to empty tank.. and clean it out rather good..

When you go to start it.. I would start it off like a 2 or 3 gallon tank... Mixed a tad rich... With a good amount of sea foam....

You can also get a can of sea foam and a short piece of hose hose connect the hose to the carb.. and to the primer bulb.. and then on the other side of the bulb add a short piece of hose... and stick that hose in the sea foam... and pump the carbs full of sea foam and let set over night

And then drain the carbs the next day...

Whatever you do make sure the carbs are full of premixed fuel when ready to start... Might even add some oil in the cylinders before cranking.

Did you compression check the motor before you bought it?

Water test?

Looks like a great boat!

That's the same block as the Johnson 115's...i'm sure with a carb/exhaust swap you could get a lot more power out of it.
