These are good in any fly box:

Bead Head Prince Nymph
Caddis
Caddis pupae bead head nymph
Blue Winged Olive
Stimulator

Those always get used out of my flybox. Of course, I'm not tying them just yet.

Wooly bugger. Kills any lake species! Caught everything from trout to pike on those
My favorite fly is a jj special
Basically a bugger with rubber legs that you can swim like a crayfish.
Use flies as inspiration and create your own. I caught a nice catfish on a couple goose feathers and some separated bungee cord elastic
