Default Bonefishing

I've gone bonefishing just once before. I was lucky enough to catch a couple that day. It was down in the Bahamas a few years ago.

Does anyone know if you can do good bonefishing down in the Keys of Florida?

Love the Bahamas (who doesn't?!?!), but not realistic for me to get there that often.

Here's a pic of one I caught:

Thanks man. Fishing for bonefish is an interesting thing to do. It's the only fishing that I know of, where you don't even CAST until you can see the fish. You stalk them more than anything...and try to lay your fly/lure down right in front of their noses and let them pick it up.

When I got on the little boat, I started casting/retrieving just to try to catch anything, and the guide was like..."no need...you won't catch a bonefish and a barracuda is probably gonna break your line." About 2 casts later, line broke on a barracuda and I started listening more closely to the guide!

you can fish for them in the keys.

i kno what you mean about the sight fishing thing. we do that here with specs and other inshore fish. its more fun than just going out and casting a line.

It is fun...but there is a learning curve at first. Once you get the hand of casting though, it's a lot of fun.

Thanks man.

Bonefish are in schools...so when you hook one...invariably the school will begin to move and the bonefish you are hooked into tries to stay with his school...so they run on you pretty good. Strong fish too.
