OK Spincast vs Baitcast. Personally Bait-casters do not like me nor I them.
If I have to choose only between Bait-caster and Spin-caster guess I have to go with Spin-caster and just give up any distance. I like it close and personal anyhow.
Bait-casters have too many parts that wear out, and I do not care who you are or will I ever believe anyone that tells me they do not ("never") Back Lash (bird-nest) with them. You can get good with them I am sure and cut down on the bird-nests but "Never"? Yeah, OK.
A Spin-caster is for simple fishing. You could say Simple People, Kids, some might say Girls, (Not Me) or Old People. Truth is they were "the Reel" anyone could use.
And still are. Now if your a "PRO" and cast like a mad man for distance (cause you can't get close) then Spin-casters are going to Back lash like a Banshee and you need to learn to use a Bait-caster. But Spin-caster Backlashes rarely require 10 minutes of digging before you can fish again. They just temp fate for getting Hooks in you Face so be careful trying to get great distance out of them.
Now Spin-casters are for Easy Pitch it out there and Fish. Use a short rod anywhere from 3ft to 5 foot and you got a nice little pitching rig for getting under or into trees and bushes. So easy Anyone (even kids) can do it.

OK that all being said Spinning Reels are better (in my opinion) than both because they let you get distance and with the right Rod setup you can do all casting styles.
Let me see you put a Bait-caster Reel on a 20 Foot Beach Launcher, Cast into a Breeze and NOT Backlash.

Rant on?

Bc reels are the type you have to really put the time in to learn i spent 3 months trying to learn now when I do it I usually don't get one maybe once in a day on the water I personally love them now lol as for spincast can't do it flipping and pitching in a hallway one day made me awesome at it

OH let me add something real fast.
If you get good with the Bait-Caster and do not try to Cast like a Mad Dog all the time, I can believe you might rarely get nests.
Guess maybe I just can't NOT Hot rod it all the time. Forget to plan ever cast?

I only use bait casters! All the hard work in learning to use one pays off. Cast longer, less work(no flipping bail), people respect you more as a fisher man!!!!!! My quantum smoke is the best reel

That's exactly what it was for me here I am ball park swinging it and now I started to really get my distance and accuracy with more smooth flicks its just control with it,plus no more birdsnest I love mine now but spinning reels are the best just because there easy to use and balance in difficulty between them and spin and bait casters.
Like smb said I love baitcasters to though people kinda look at you like wooo I could never get it to work for me. All you have to do is practice lol but I love my abu Garcia black max but I can't wait to upgrade still.

I really enjoyed this post, especially the “examples in this post” portion which made it really easy for me to SEE what you were talking about without even having to leave the article. Thanks
