Default Pocket Knife Suggestions

I posted this on the F150forum, but figured I'd post it on here too since a few others might chime in. I'm looking to possibly purchase another pocket knife. I have a black and silver Gerber I like but it's too heavy to carry every day. I bought a mini Gerber paraframe about a year ago to use when I have extremely limited pocket space but when space isn't severely limited I'd prefer a larger knife. I have a camo Buck knife that is decent length and lightweight, but I'd prefer it to have a slimmer profile. I'm thinking of just getting the regular size Gerber Paraframe. My Bass Pro Shops circular that came in the mail the other day shows that it's now available in camo and the "camo models feature Soft Touch tac-hide on the handles for a better grip" which sounds good. But does anybody have any other suggestions for a good, every day pocket knife? The desired list is lightweight, decent length, slim-ish profile, and obviously a good blade. It won't be used for any hardcore work. I just always like having a knife on me. They tend to come in handy. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Default Hey Now...

Why not just get a Leatherman or Gerber tool that has everything but doesnt remind me of the swiss army knife. Also I carry a buck and it has never let me down.

I already have a Gerber multitool in my truck. I just like carrying around a knife at all times generally

I've used spyderco knives for 20 years and they've never failed me. They have models for any use you would have. They are a little pricey but they last. Check them out at http://www.spyderco.com/

Check out the Kershaw Blur line. They are great knives, fantastic non-slip handle, they are speed assist, using a torsen bar for release so it can be done manually or just with the flip of your thumb. It doesnt feel out of control like some spring assisted knives are when opening. The blade is durable and well made. I carry the tanto version everyday, and in my fire department turnout gear i have their rescue model in my pocket and frankly is the quickest seat belt cutter ive used.

Due to some responses on the F150forum, I looked into the Kershaw Blackout. Read several great reviews and went to my local Bass Pro to check it out for myself. The spring assist is very awesome. First knife I've gotten that has it actually. I really liked it so I bought it off Amazon for less than $40 (Bass Pro was $80 and only had serrated). I received it in the mail today, and although I haven't put it to the test yet, I really like it. I need to work on opening it though because I haven't mastered it safely yet. Didn't realize they had a Rescue version though. I'll definitely check that out for when I get back into firefighting. Thanks
