So what do y'all think about the talk of evening up the leagues, doing away with divisions, and the five best teams from each league going to the playoffs?

I'm personally in favor of it. It's not at all fair to the Rays, Orioles, and Blue Jays to have to play Boston and NY with their massive payrolls a million times a year and have to always go through them to get in the playoffs while teams in other divisions that are barely above .500 with an easier schedule get a playoff berth. And yes, I'm biased as a Rays fan

Are they talking about doing this now?

I do think the payroll issues are huge and something needs to be done about it. Seems like the model that the NFL has adopted is working pretty good...not sure if baseball could do it or not.

It's being discussed. Buster Olney broke the story about a week or so ago. The NFL model is working very well. I think it would be a good thing for baseball. Supposedly a source said it wouldn't be in 2012. But they are discussing it and supposedly the players are in favor of it so that gives me hope

I don't like it. I think it will be hard for at least AL teams to get in. Why not just add an extra wild card? I feel like, in the AL at least, it will always be the yanks, red sox, and rays in the top 3 spots every year, then probably the rangers and angels. To me that would get boring. I think divisions bring the chance of more opportunity for some of the teams who didn't necessarily do well throughout the whole season to prove themselves in the playoffs. Adding a wild card will allow probably a thirde team from the AL east to get in while still allowing the twins, indian, whitesox and such an opportunity to make the playoffs.

I could go for just an extra wild card spot. As a Rays fan, I just want one of the options on the table to come true to give my team a better chance. We're in 3rd place in the AL East with one of the smallest payrolls against the two big spending goliaths in Boston and NY. With our current record (not including today's games), we would be in first place in the other AL divisions, and that's still with playing the Yanks and Sox a million times a year. It's not exactly fair for us to get screwed out of a playoff spot like that when teams with worse records get to go. Just like the Tampa Bay Bucs got screwed out of a playoff spot in the NFL last season...

Crew is getting owned by the Yanks....

Need to stop the home runs....without that 3run homer last night we would've been right in it...

The first game we looked like a little league team out there. Between Morgan's slip, McGehee's slip, and the really bad showing by Greinke....

I can't say I'm complaining all that much
