Default What are the basics i need t start pike fishing?

I've heard that a carp rod and a match reel will do is this true as that's what I currently have.
Also any advice on lures or spinners or baits or whatever is much appreciated.
Thanks.

U need carp rods
Pod, or banksticks, bite alarms and hangers
Wire traces for deadbaiting and spinning
Baitfeeder reel for deadbaiting and spinning reel for spinning
Also use jelly lures and spoons or plugs
Very good
I have had a pike on a single maggot on a size 12 hook

Well all you really need is a carp rod, reel, at least 18lb line, wire traces, a large mesh net, and spinners or lures personality savage gear lures work the best for me especially the 13cm 4-play perch although a copper and sliver spoon is amazing!!

You really can use anything I use my bass gear and never have problems I'm in Illinois I pulled 4 pike one day on 2.5inch suspending minnow, buzzbaits work great, spinners cranks , last time we went they wouldn't hit anything slow so we pulled them on shakey head jigs and finesse worms. My favorite is suspending baits :-) they just kill the bait when you let it pause or give it a tiny twitch. I usually use 10-12lb fluoro usually no wire leader.
