Personally Shimano Stradic I've owned for years from the tiny 1000 to the 5000 the last couple years I've upgraded to the Sustains, I feel you cant go wrong with either one of those. As for baitcasters I lean towards the Garcia's I previously own the Revo STX-HS & Revo STX also 2 Morrums I feel Garcia makes better baitcasters and Shimano better spinning. My opinion. Also as for the Penns I have never used went to buy one last year for salt water and my local Penn dealership talked me out of it he said they have gone down hill (I was looking at the Battle)
